Abstracts on Paper

These paintings are a combination of two different series both exploring the theme of identity:

‘Finding Your Voice’ includes two painting that explore significant breakthroughs in being free to be yourself, they represent moments of discovering your own voice.

‘Abstract Conversations’ were made simultaneously. I loved working in this way as the paintings seemed to be in conversation with one another and influencing each other, but once they were finished they each turned out differently. I was surprised at how much they took on their own character. I believe it is alongside and in relationship with others that we find ourselves. We may at times get drowned out by another or be influenced to be like someone else but ultimately it’s by being side by side with others we can see our differences and ultimately our uniqueness.
